Seniors for Seniors Adoption Program
Our Seniors for Seniors program is designed to enrich the lives of both senior citizens and senior cats.
The goals are to both provide loving companionship for seniors looking to share their homes with a friendly, gentle animal, and to find permanent homes for wonderful, overlooked cats in need. Each cat is spayed or neutered and up to date on rabies and distemper vaccines. Research shows that companion animals can improve health and happiness, regardless of age, health, social or even economic status.

Our Seniors for Seniors program places senior cats who are 7 years old with senior citizens who are 65+ years old. We waive the adoption fees for adopters who participate in the program (standard adoption procedures apply). Seniors can rest assured that their beloved cat will always have a home with CFA, should their circumstances change for any reason.

Before you Adopt:
CFA realizes that adopting any pet as we approach our golden years is a big decision. We’d like our senior adopters to please consider the following before adopting and understand that we'll be going over these questions before placing a cat in a senior home.

Your new pet must be well matched to your abilities and your environment

Your new pet will require vet visits. Do you have transportation?

Do you have the financial resources for the lifelong veterinary care your new family member will need?

As we age, arthritis can make opening cans and grooming difficult

As we age, our eyesight may decline, and our balance may become less stable

All of our cats must be kept strictly indoor cats, and that requires litter boxes that need regular cleaning, which means being able to bend /stoop over and scoop litter

Your senior cat may need medication, which should be clearly marked and stored in a separate location from your own

Our experienced volunteers take many things into consideration when making a decision about placing our cats in their new home.
